District Judge Temporarily Blocks End of Migrant Worker Parole Program

The order stops President Trump’s administration from ending the program that offered work permits.

District Judge Indira Talwani temporarily blocked President Trump’s administration from ending an immigration program allowing temporary workers to work in the United States. She ordered a case-by-case review of parole and work authorizations.

Last month, the Department of Homeland Security announced the shut down of the Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela (CHNV) program implemented by President Biden’s administration, giving the half a million migrants enrolled in the program until April 24 to leave the country or be deported.

“If their parole status is allowed to lapse, Plaintiffs will be faced with two unfavorable options: continue following the law and leave the country on their own, or await removal proceedings. If Plaintiffs leave the country on their own, they will face dangers in their native countries, as set forth in their affidavits,” Judge Talwani wrote in her 41-page ruling.

“For some Plaintiffs, leaving will also cause family separation. Leaving may also mean Plaintiffs will have forfeited any opportunity to obtain a remedy based on their APA claims, as leaving may moot those claims,” the judge wrote.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and members of his administration as they work to remove illegal aliens from the United States.
  • For district judges to follow federal immigration laws as they rule on the deportation efforts of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs officials.
